Thought I'd pimp a few more of my favorite fics, in case anyone out there hasn't already read them!
I like stories with a difference. Different twist, different POV, different view of our guys, not the usual fare (even though the usual S/H fare is pretty damn good). Stella's "A Love Story" is such a fic. Told from the first person POV of, of all people, Fat Rolly, it's, as the summary says, a story of unrequited love. It's well-written, thoughtful, and even sweet. We're not supposed to like Fat Rolly, but I liked him after I read this. http://meandthee.shahrazad.net/disp lay.php?storyid=577
"Fevered" by Libra Three lives up to its title. We've seen the premise before -- one of the boys wants the other, thinks he can't have him, resorts to having sex with random guys who bear a vague resemblance to the beloved -- but this one, set post-Discomania, shines. Hutch allows himself to be seduced by party animal Marty (why not? -- he has dark curly hair and dance moves to die for), but he can only lie to himself for so long. Angsty, dark, and hot. http://meandthee.shahrazad.net/disp lay.php?storyid=906
Damn. Just realized that the third fic I was about to rec has vanished in the Geocities collapse. Sigh. Okay, how about this one? I love Jat Sapphire. I want to be Jat Sapphire. Her fics are always perfectly in character, hotter than hell, and the language is beautiful without being over the top. She can write angst, romance, action, au, h/c, you name it. "Blondilocks" is a dialogue-only fic; not my favorite kind unless the dialogue is pitch-perfect, and this being JS, it's pitch-perfect. While Hutch recovers from the plague, Starsky tells him a fractured fairy tale. So sweet I just want to hug it, and them too. http://meandthee.shahrazad.net/disp lay.php?storyid=344

Um, hi everybody!
Shockingly, I've decided to finally use this journal (sometimes, anyway) for things other than posting my own fanfictional spewings. I thought it would be nice to rec other people's fanfictional spewings, and since I'm hopelessly stuck on Starsky & Hutch fandom at the moment, most if not all of the recs will be SH (and S/H; I do love my slash). Maybe most of you will have read these fics already, maybe lots of times; if so, just ignore my obnoxious squeeing. *g*
I just watched SvsH again, and am again confused, amused, intrigued, and tickled by it. So I went searching for fic and found a little slash gem I hadn't read before, "Lonesome Time" by Constance Collins. Really sweet, with poor broken-hearted Starsky trying to deal with his disintegrating relationship with Hutch by convincing himself he's in love with Kira. No such luck, and the boys find their way back home by the end.

I love DIADP, and "Living a Different Lie" by the wonderful Verlaine gives us a neat look back at Academy-era Starsky and his relationship with his closeted father figure, John Blaine. Not to mention his confused feelings for his new friend Hutch.

Anyone out there like crossovers? I don't -- usually. Especially if I don't know one of the fandoms involved. I don't know a thing about Wiseguy, but trust me, you don't have to. Merricat's "A View to a Kill" is the toughest, darkest, angstiest post-SR AU you could ever hope to read, crossover or not. WARNING: If you can't stand deathfic, do not read this story. If you can soar for days on heartbreak, agony, and the pure ecstasy of unbearable Hutch angst, go here:

Title: Easy
Author: Nyssa
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Progression of a partnership.
Author's notes: This began as an experiment. My fics are usually very dialogue-heavy and written in first person or very close third person. I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could write a fic of reasonable length with no dialogue at all, and from a more removed perspective. I did it, but I don't think I'll do it again.
Disclaimer: Don't own 'em, just love 'em.
